Lynne Gatiss (Treasurer)

Lyn has been going fishing just over three years and is a Level 1 Angling Coach. Here’s a little poem from Lynne…

I thought I’d take up fishing

Must be four years or more

To get away from housework

And all those boring chores.

I thought I’d take up fishing

Peace and quiet down by the lake

Instead we’re in the fishing lodge

Drinking coffee and eating cake.

I thought I’d take up fishing

With ladies all thinking the same

And now you’ll find us everywhere

It’s no longer a male domain.

I thought I’d take up fishing

But nobody told me that

No matter how much you diet

Waders will make you look fat.

I thought I’d take up fishing

And sometimes I even catch

But it’s more luck than angling skills

I can never match the hatch.

I thought I would take up fishing

But I only fish for the sport

I always put the fish straight back

Captain birds eye’s more my sort.

I thought I would take up fishing

But it’s nothing like what they said

I may just give up fishing

And write poetry instead.

I’m not going to give up fishing

That feeling when you catch a fish

And lots of laughs when someone falls in

What more could you possibly wish!

Chris Bowden (Committee Member) is an honorary member of the Fishing For Everyone Ladies Fishing club. The only male member of the Committee and with over forty years angling experience, Chris is the Club’s most experienced angler. He is a huge asset to the Club and particularly enjoys our outings which involve eating cake… and lots of it!
