Carmelle ‘Hooks’ Her First Grayling

1st February, 2010 - Posted by Lucy - 2 Comments

The first Club fishing trip of 2010 was held on the exclusive Tweedswood beat on the River Tweed on Sunday 31st January.

A beautiful yet cold and crisp January day met the eleven members of the Club who attended the Grayling fishing event… perfect fishing conditions.

Guidance to fishing was given by Hardy & Greys Game Academy member, Level 2 Qualified Angling Instructor and Tweed Guide, Ron Mccombe, Hardy & Greys Ltd Product Development Manager and International Angler, Scott Nellins and AAPGAI instructor and beat ghillie, Kevin Patterson.

The day began with an introduction to the Grayling – the lady of the stream before we all tackled up and headed out to learn the basics of fishing for Grayling. Club member, Carmelle Hook landed her first ever Grayling – a 45cm PB! Well done Carmelle!

Lunch was served in the lodge, beautifully cooked by Ron’s wife, Lynne the ladies all throughly enjoyed their chilli con-carnie served with warm bread and tea/coffee which perfectly hit the spot before heading back out fishing again.

The girls all had a fantastic day and are looking forward to our next event being held at Whinney Loch on Saturday March 27th.

The Fishing For Everyone Ladies Fishing Club would like to thank Ron Mccombe, Scott Nellins and Kevin Patterson for all of their fishng advice, instruction and help on the day.

It was a great day a little on the cold side but I think everyone did quite well. The grayling are difficult to catch but it was a enjoyable day and I hope to see everyone back again soon to have another go
