Some things about ladies in angling I bet you didn’t know!

• Sales of rod licenses to women are steadily increasing. It’s predicated this year will see the largest year-on-year growth seen since 2006.
• Sales for girls’ licenses have more than quadrupled between 2000 and 2008.
• Of these women who take part in angling, a greater proportion become club members than is the case for their male counterparts. This is relatively unusual compared to other sports.
• A relatively high proportion of female anglers also take part in competition: one in five compared with one in six male anglers.
