  • Always use a wading staff when wading in rivers – you never know what is under your feet!hunter
  • Wear a wading belt when wading – this avoids your waders from filling up with water if you fall in.
  • Always wear eye protection when fishing – this protects your eyes from the suns glare and flying hooks
  • Wear sun protection – a red face is never a good look!
  • Take lots of fluids with you to avoid de-hydration.
  • Wash your hands after fishing and before eating to avoid any diseases in the water.
  • Wear correct footwear when fishing – preferably non-slippery.
  • It is always safer to go fishing with someone else than alone. If you do have to go alone always tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
  • Always wear a life jacket / belt when fishing from a boat.
  • Carry a mobile phone with you if possible. If not always ensure you know where the nearest telephone is in case of an emergency.
